Dave Wigmore is well known as a volunteer litterpicker having this year been presented with a letter of thanks by Terry Christopher on behalf of the town council.

He has been at it again last week, picking rubbish left behind on the river banks down Redbrook Road and along the Monmouthshire Showground and has collected an astonishing six bags of recycling, nine crates of bottles and a large black bag of rubbish, currently sat outside his house waiting to be collected.

Speaking to the Beacon this week, he said: “ It is a shocking amount of litter and this picture is a timely reminder to your readers that the litter problem has not gone away.”

Jim Handley from Monmouth Litter Group added that it is nothing short of phenomenal how much effort David puts into not only collecting the litter but then sorting out everything that can be recycled.

He is so well known especially around the river banks and nearby areas, not least because he is always accompanied by Brock, his gorgeous dog.
