It is 25 years since the Lions Club of Monmouth started selling bedding plants and hanging baskets.

How those years have rolled by! The operation was instigated in 1984 by the then President, Colin Parsons, and each year the Club has sold bedding plants and baskets to raise funds for those more needy than ourselves.

We have a large number of customers who order their plants through us year after year, so we must be doing something right.

Many Monmouth residents will already have received their order forms, but those who have not yet received an order form may telephone for one on 01600 713543, 716267 or 716824.

In placing an order with the Lions Club, you not only get a good choice (eleven varieties of bedding plants, nine pots and two hanging baskets) and the plants delivered to your door, but you also contribute to the causes supported by the Lions Club.

For example, locally we provide Christmas food parcels to those in need; nationally we support a host of charities, ranging from cancer research to the Children's Hospice in Wales.

Internationally, we support the provision of eye camps and water wells in the Third World and donate to various disaster fund.
