SIR,

In life we say that it is the little things that go a long way. Our daughter came home from Osbaston Primary School on Friday exclaiming that she had a very important letter.

Indeed on inspection she had a personally addressed letter from Monmouth Comprehensive School, inviting her and her Year 6 colleagues to attend a performance of the forthcoming production of Bugsy Malone.

Some people may think "so what?" but I have to say that this letter immediately gave our daughter a sense of belonging to her new 'big' school, at a time when the butterflies and slight insecurities of life after primary school have already begun.

On a shallower note, the invitation also means missing a whole morning of numeracy, which can't be bad.

Thank you MCS for taking the time to do this and good luck with your performance.
