The letter from Dr AJ Owen (‘Self-harming’ phenomenon, Beacon 28th August) was a very long-winded rant by a remoaner in anger-mode.

I am amused that he thinks I have been misled by the propaganda and populist press.  Neither side could see what the result of the referendum might be, and my vote was instinctive, and more so now.

What happened to the anticipated fall of the economy when Article 50 was exercised, as predicted by the banks?

The likes of Messrs Juncker and Tusk walked all over Mrs May, showing that they will only be happy with a federal Europe run from the gravy-train at Brussels.

I voted for the Common Market, but never intended to be so constrained by the EU, that it would require a huge amount of effort and time to extract ourselves from it.

So, far from self-harming let’s embrace trading with the world out there - trade always wins out over politics and our nation has a history of being good at that.
