A crew from the Ross Rowing Club ladies' squad competed in the Women's Eights Head of the River Race. This 4 ¼ mile event, over the boat race course from Mortlake to Putney attracts the best women rowers from all over Europe. The Ross crew of cox; Frazer Blackwood, Leigh Howell, Annie Williams, Laura Martin, Holly Campbell, Dawn Evans, Jackie Baynham, Karen Blackwood and Sheron Lucas finished 228 over all out of 236 crews. Club Captain Ian Howell commented "This is a really big achievement as four of the crew are very new to the sport and the whole crew has made tremendous technical and athletic progress". The ladies coach Ruth Davies and ladies captain Sheron Dean-Lucas have done a great job bringing this group on. Thanks must also go to Dan Ruck for coxing during winter training, Neil Lucas and Ian Howell for being the support team and towing the boat trailer.
