Race organisers have taken the difficult decision to cancel this year's Kymin Dash.

The traditional start to carnival day has been cancelled now as advertising normally begins in national magazines such as Runners World.

The Kymin Dash is a race with a long history and is a popular event that has been incorporated into Monmouth's free nine day festival and carnival.

Race organiser Maureen Vandervelden, who also sits on the Monmouth Festival Committee, told the Beacon "We tried to get sponsors having lost a few this year, but we simply cannot afford it anymore".
