A CHARITY fundraiser came through Monmouth on his epic bid to skip 900 miles from Land’s End to John O’Groats.

Krish Patel is aiming to cover the equivalent of roughly a marathon a day for around 40 days on his Great British Skip, travelling through communities with a skipping rope.

And on Day 11 of his challenge (Friday, August 28), he was seen skipping through Chepstow up the Wye Valley to Monmouth as part of his 900-mile challenge, which he hopes to finish on September 26.

He posted: “Day 11 of the Great British Skip saw me skip another 28 miles, meet even more kind people and skip through more beautiful scenery…how beautiful is Chepstow, Monmouth & the Wye Valley?!”

On Day 12 he skipped to Ross-on-Wye before then heading further northwards, and by last weekend had reached his home region in Manchester.

Krish is using the journey to launch a national campaign to "prove kindness exists everywhere”, sharing stories of everyday kindness from the people and communities he meets along the way, which people can post on an online portal.

He is also aiming to raise £520,000 for 52 Lives and The School of Kindness, supporting their work at schools across the UK.

The 34-year-old from Bolton told BBC Radio Manchester he had been inspired by seeing skipping children "laughing with joy" while volunteering at schools in Uganda and Manchester.

"It clearly brings smiles, it brings joy so I thought, you know what, what about if I skip the length of the UK with a skipping rope," he said.

"I wondered if anyone had ever done it before. They've not, and I basically thought I'd open up a kindness portal where people could submit stories of kindness to this portal as I skip the length of the UK."
