Member of the Senedd for Monmouth, Peter Fox, has welcomed Kemi Badenoch to Monmouth.

The Leader of the Opposition was in Monmouth to meet with local businesses and the community to discuss the impact of Labour’s budget and the recent flooding on the community.

Mr Fox met Ms Badenoch on Monnow Bridge with Leader of the Welsh Conservatives in the Senedd, Darren Millar, and Local Councillors, first discussing the devastating flooding caused by Storm Claudia, before arriving at Bar 125 to meet with local businesses for a forum on the recent budget.

During the visit, Mr Fox and Ms Badenoch heard concerns from local businesses about the impact the recent Labour budget was going to have on them, both personally and professionally, whilst also hearing from the farming community about Labour’s tax raid on family farms.

The Conservatives have vowed to reverse the devastating family farm tax, abolish stamp duty and provide the UK with the economic leadership it needs.

Local MS for Monmouth, Peter Fox, has said: “It was a pleasure to welcome Kemi to Monmouth today, and I’m very grateful to her for visiting Wales to hear the concerns of local residents and businesses.

“We heard from businesses about how scared they were about the budget, and how else Labour were going to punish them and their livelihoods. It’s clear people have had enough.

“We listened to some first hand accounts about the impact the flooding had in Monmouth, and some of the stories were utterly heartbreaking. Kemi, Darren and I were steadfast in offering our support to those affected.

“Concerns were also raised about the family farm tax, and I was pleased the farming community were present to hear the commitment from the Conservatives that we will scrap this punishing tax.

“Only the Conservatives will provide a strong voice for our farmers, communities and businesses”
