SIR,

I cannot believe those involved have allowed the works on the Shire Hall to be delayed.

Surely the Council and the tenants should start talks, so that they can settle this stupid row.

At the end of the day we, that is the council taxpayers of the county, will have to foot the bill if this dispute is allowed to continue, with the costs rising by something like £5,000 per week.

So, let commonsense prevail, find an acceptable solution and the works can once again start and be completed on time.
