SIR,

This is my final chance to ask people to join the free coaches to London this Saturday so that they can play a small part in fighting the Government's unjust cuts to public services.

In recent months people in the Middle East have sacrificed their lives for the kind of democracy that our leaders have taken for granted.

How can this ideologically-driven coalition government be allowed to destroy our NHS? Where was the democratic means by which we gave them the authority to do so?

They continually prove their interest is that of big business, the finance sector and their rich class. They love it that we believe the story that the cuts are necessary.

But people power proved them wrong on the Forests and on tuition fees. Now we must do the same to save public services and oppose tax inequity.

The march and rally this Saturday is about starting the fight back.

The very thing that we opposed in the sell-off of the Forests – a switch to ownership by social enterprises – is exactly what this government will do with our community hospitals.

Just like it is our forest, these are our hospitals and our NHS.

And we must not forget who made this crisis – the finance sector.

Although right-wing Thatcherites like Venk Shenoi would have you believe the global downturn was all Gordon Brown's work, it was the bankers who gambled on dodgy debt, but we who bailed them out and now they reap mega bonuses once more.

Only last week the RBS revealed that it has 323 staff who themselves accrued a total earning of £375million.

This march is about saving services like libraries, youth services, and the NHS. But it is also about offering an alternative.

Call 01452 760235 for our Forest of Dean coach or 01600 715121 for the Wye Valley and Chepstow coach from Monmouth immediately to reserve yourself a free place.

It's not too late to kick out the cuts.
