Projectionist Mike Harrold is pictured with the last reel of 35mm film ever to be used at the Savoy Theatre.
After 103 years of showing movies the old-fashioned way, the Church Street theatre is moving into the 21st century.
It has installed a digital projector and films will be downloaded onto a new system.
The last movie shown on 35mmm film was The Look of Love, starring Steve Coogan as legendary porn and property baron Paul Raymond, on Thursday 13th June.
Fundraising for the new equipment was a formidable undertaking for the voluntary trust that run the theatre but thanks in large part to two very important and generous anonymous donations, the resources were found.
