SIR, I have recently visited Monmouth and during that visit had to go to Nevil Hall Hospital. I am writiing to say how impressed I was by the Monmouth doctor, the ambulance staff and Nevil Hall Hospital itself. The ambulance arrived about 20 minutes after being called and at the hospital I was taken straight to the assessment ward and eventually to a bed in the appropriate ward. The doctor and nurses were all polite, efficient and friendly. When living in Monmouth I heard a lot of criticism of the hospital which made me very worried when the doctor decided to send me there. I was only in for about 24 hours but in both wards all the patients were very well cared for and none of them seemed anxious. PJ Watson (Otley)
