FARMERS in the region are being encouraged to att-end a hustings meeting with prospective MPs, organised by NFU Cymru, ahead of the General Election on Thursday

7th May.

The union is urging its members to meet and question the prospective MPs from the main political parties, giving them the opportunity for them to find out about the rural and agricultural policies of each party.

NFU Cymru Monmouthshire county chairman, Gary Yeomans, said: "Whilst the majority of farming issues are now determined by devo-lved Government, there are still some important aspects determined by Westminster.

"With a general election looming and the possibility that we could be facing a very different political landscape, the prospective candidates now have the opportunity to set out their stall and justify why they are the best candidate for Monmouthshire.

"I'm looking forward to welcoming members to Pant Farm and I hope to see a good turnout, so please encourage you friends and neighbours to come along, as it gives our members the opportunity to test the awareness amongst the candidates of the main issues affecting our agricultural industry"

The hustings will take place at Pant Farm, Llanvetherine, Abergavenny on Thursday 23rd April at 2pm.
