ON 11th July the legendary Tom Jones comes to town, performing at the racecourse. One of the longest running and most sucessful acts of all time, it's not surprising that Sir Tom is causing a stir. Accommodation in town is booked to the gills. St Pierre is so full that they are not even taking names for their reserve list. The Beaufort Hotel receptionist said: "We have been full for that day for ages. It's definitely made a difference." Due to the large numbers expected, there is a special 'Tom Jones Bus' service from Newport railway station, Chepstow railway station and Chepstow bus station on the day and the racecourse is asking people to try to use public tansport wherever possible to ease congestion and help with parking. There are 10,000 tickets available. "All but the hospitality tickets have been sold," said a spokesperson for the racecourse. "The remaining tickets start at £149 and are available directly from the racecourse." "We are very excited to be hosting such a big event and of course we hope it will be good for the town in general. "We know that accommodation in the area has been booked up for months in advance and are now advising people to try looking for rooms as far away as Magor."
