A herd of horses have been attacked in their field in St Briavels.
Gloucester Police were called to the scene on Friday morning (22nd June) after the horses were checked by their owner and found to be in a terrified state.
The attack happened between 6pm on 21st June and 10am on 22nd June. Door-to-door enquiries have been carried out by police but with no success.
The Beacon has been told that the animals, four horses, five ponies and a mule, had been restrained around the neck with rope and had whiskers pulled out, manes and tails cut and even received burn wounds to the head and face.
Injuries were not severe and no vet was needed, the animals mainly suffering from fear.
Horse owners in the area should be wary of such attacks and anyone with any information should call 101 and quote incident number 234 on 22nd June.
