SIR,
Should our AM step down as suggested by some obvious joker in the Beacon (9th March) because Monmouthshire voted 'No' in the referendum on giving Wales more legislative powers.
I hope he read the generous remarks about Nick Ramsay by Huw Edwards in your paper of the same date. Huw Edwards an experienced politician and a gentleman who knows that personal attacks on the opposition are worthless and only earns one the contempt shown to "Digger Hain" by all parties.
One only has to look at the televised scenes from the Assembly to see that Nick Ramsay is well above the intelligence shown by the average AM and that includes failed lawyers and other professionals.
It is only a few years ago that David Davies revealed the ascending costs of the Assembly Government; it is grossly over-staffed, mostly overpaid and lacking in business acumen.
The 'yes' vote will lead to even greater costs, particularly for legal advisers etc (No wonder they need a doctor in the house).
I urge voters for the 8th May election to try to find time to watch the antics on TV if they can still afford one.
It is reported that Nick Ramsay's attendance and voting record is one of the highest in the Assembly, so I hope he is returned to his seat with the majority he so obviously deserves.
