After conceding seven goals in their last two games, the visit of the leagues current bottom team Bourton and Sherbourne A provided an opportunity for Ross 2nd XI mens hockey team to continue their promising start to the season.

However, another heavy defeat and the fragile team confidence achieved by scoring three second half goals to win away at Cheltenham three-two could evaporate, making it a long winter for the ever-faithful supporters.

With the impressive Chris Chalk and Ben da Cunha absent, a victory could not be taken for granted and an evenly fought contest was expected at Monmouth School Sports Club.
