THE year ended on a high note for the South Herefordshire Cottage Garden Society with an excellent Christmas lunch at the Old Court Hotel, followed by a very entertaining speaker.

Fiona Warin is the Cheltenham Allotments officer and one would have expected a rather dull talk on allotments, quite the contrary. She kept the club enthralled and awake after a satisfactory lunch with her tales of how she became involved in allotments and their history.

2013 was a good year with interesting talks interspersed with visits to a variety of gardens. Some members also went on an east Anglian holiday, visiting Beth Chatto's garden among others.

The coming season starts off with a talk by Chrissy Chang on Potagers. This will be at Walford Village Hall at 2pm this Saturday (1st February).

The rest of the year brings a selection of speakers, including Bob Brown, with various group outings to be arranged.
