SIR, The single most common cause of death in the UK is heart disease. One in six men and one in ten women die from heart disease. But many of these deaths can be prevented. North Gwent Cardiac Rehabilitation and Aftercare Charity works to restore health in people diagnosed with heart disease, and prevent further heart damage. We do this by providing education on healthy life-styles and exercise classes (including classes in Monmouth) that allow people to build heart strength and fitness in a safe environment. We support people who have experienced heart attack, heart surgery, heart failure, angina or any heart condition. Our charity is holding its AGM on 28th October, at 7pm at the Education Centre, Nevill Hall hospital. If any readers have, or care for someone who has, heart disease, you will be most welcome to come along and learn what the charity can do for you. For more information call 01873 732511.
