OSBASTON Infants' school can't share harvest produce with this year's charity but instead the children are helping to share what we take for granted - a good education - with a child in the third world.
The school is supporting the World Vision'charity by sending regular contributions to help with the education of Washington Owino, a five-year-old who lives in Kenya. The £112 donated in lieu of harvest produce will help.
Year 2 children already know where Kenya is and have used their IT skills to surf the net and find out about Africa, the animals that live there, and what a Kenyan village is like. They will be finding out how very different life is for Washington from life here in Monmouth and will be able to correspond with him.
At the harvest service, the children had a visit from Curly the puppet who explained how thankful we should be for the grain harvest needed for making flour so that we can all enjoy our bread, toast or breakfast cereals.
