SIR

I am am very sorry that Jennifer Evans was directly affected by the recent flooding in parts of Monmouth.

I can categorically assure her that although she may not have seen me, I was there that morning and spoke to a number of residents who had been affected, as well as representatives from Melin Homes.

I went inside some of the affected properties and went over to see the culvert which had allegedly caused the problem.

I also spoke to members of the fire brigade who had pumped water out of the houses.

I was there for quite a while and I would have liked to speak to everyone, but at the same time I did not actually want to go knocking on doors and pushing myself into people's homes when they had just had an upsetting experience.

Hence it is quite possible that I missed Ms Evans. However, if she contacts me I would be more than happy to go back and talk to her when she finds it convenient.
