My husband Paul and I stayed on a caravan site behind the Royal Oak pub in Monmouth last July. We usually walked or cycled from our caravan to explore the area and at the end of the week agreed that your community was the friendliest we’ve come across.
We were given a tour of St Mary’s Priory Church by a lovely elderly gentleman, thoroughly enjoyed visiting the courtrooms and prison cells and were even offered a lift when returning from a walk!
We always enjoy the local food and drinks and love hearing Welsh spoken. We have felt so sad to see the effects of the recent flooding and hope that your situation improves soon. We will be returning in the Summer, but are thinking of your town now.
With our best wishes,
Sheila and Paul Fairlamb (Residents of Elwick, just outside Hartlepool in the N.East of England)
