Little Mill Village Hall is inviting local residents to get involved as it looks ahead to the next chapter in its long and proud history.

Following a busy and successful 2025, the hall recently marked its 90th anniversary, celebrating nine decades at the heart of village life. From social events and meetings to celebrations and activities, the hall continues to be a much-loved space for the community.

At the upcoming Annual General Meeting to be held at the village hall on the 28th April (7pm) trustees will be seeking a new Treasurer and additional trustees join the committee. Current chairman Cllr Tony Kear said, “the treasurer’s role is vital in helping to keep the hall running smoothly and supporting future plans and the wise counsel of new trustees will help guide that future”.

One of those plans includes a complete redecoration of the outside of the building in the spring.

The hall’s story is one of community spirit from the very beginning. Built during the difficult years of the 1930s, the project was launched in 1933 by village policeman PC W J Taylor, who saw an opportunity to bring people together at a time of high unemployment. More than 30 local men gave their time and skills voluntarily to build the hall, while architect C Tedman Jones generously supervised the work free of charge. The hall opened in 1935.

The trustees are now calling for volunteers who may have a little spare time to help care for the hall and its surroundings. This could be as simple as litter picking, weeding, or lending a hand with small maintenance jobs.

Anyone interested in volunteering, taking on the treasurer role, or learning more is warmly encouraged to attend the AGM or get in touch with the village hall committee.
