Sir,
On Friday 4th November I visited a public exhibition by Taylor Wimpey promoting land at Vauxhaull Fields for residential develoment.
The company wants the site to be included in Monmouthshire County Council's (MCC) Local Development Plan (LDP) for a 400 house development.
Among the leaflets and forms I picked up was a deposit stage comments form and another sheet beside it called 'guidance for commenting on MCC's deposit version of the LDP'.
This latter guidance sheet finished by offering a freephone number to ring for further information on Taylor Wimpey's proposals or, if you would like "further guidance on completing the council's questionnaire".
After returning home I rang the number as I wished to check a point with the council and found myself talking to a very smooth, helpful young man who said he could help me fill in the comments form.
Feeling something was slightly amiss I asked who I was talking to and found I was through to Taylor Wimpey.
The comments form had the MCC Logo on it, but there was no indication on the guidance sheet as to who had produced it.
On reading this guidance form properly it was indeed guiding you, gently, but in directions that in my view would certainly not be in the best interests of the people of Monmouth but very much in the interests of Taylor Wimpey shareholders.
