A fantastic maiden first team century from Josh Grey guided Monmouth 1st XI to a four-wicket win away to Wormelow last Saturday (4th June).

Grey's 113 meant the Welshmen have now made it five out of five in a thus far perfect start to their Worcester County League Division Two campaign.

The momentum swung both ways as Wormelow scored 256 for seven in a rain-interrupted first half of the match, which meant that two overs would be lost from the second innings.

It was Monmouth who were on top in the early exchanges, with Richard Shaw (one for 21 from eight overs) and Jon Roberts (two for 64 from 13 overs) picking up early wickets.

A good partnership between Tim Boulter (72) and Shaun Waldron (68) helped Wormelow rebuild the innings before they were once again pegged back.

Jonathan Jones (three for 37 from seven) picked up the wickets of both men and David Teague (one for 58) provided good control in the later stages.

There were catches for Roberts, Dan Head and Jordan Charles as Monmouth restricted their hosts well in the closing overs.
