A GREENPEACE protester who was recently imprisoned in Russia will be sharing his experiences at Bridges Community Centre, Monmouth, next Wednesday (22nd January).
Anthony Perrett, along with 29 other activists, was involved in a protest against the Gazprom Arctic drilling platform Prirazlomnaya, where two activists tried to climb the side of the platform and hang a banner.
The Arctic 30 were subsequently arrested with 15 UK activists, including Anthony, charged with piracy.
The activists received worldwide support from the public, including Sir Paul McCartney and Dame Vivienne Westwood.
The protesters were granted bail on Wednesday 20th November and after being held in Russia for 100 days, the ex-Caldicot town councillor returned home to Monmouthshire.
Mr Perrett will be speaking at 2.30pm and again at 5.30pm. Entry is free but a donation of £3 for Transition Monmouth and Anthony would be appreciated.
Mr Perrett is pictured above (second from the right) with other activists before the protest and below after being released from his Russian cell on bail.
