SIR,

The Green Travel Day has been designed  to promote bus travel in the town, to highlight the need for better provision for cyclists and to promote a safer and less stressful environment for pedestrians.

You can have your say about all these issues if you come to our stall at the Oldway Centre and/or fill in a questionnaire on the local buses.

This Thursday the W bus services around town will be free and the buses coming into Monmouth will be offering tickets at a reduced price.  There will also be a new service being trialled.  This is a circular route - in two directions - which will serve all the three communities of the town.  If you would like to experience it in action, join us on the Grass Routes bus from the Oldway Centre at ll.00 am and again at l2.30 pm.

If you would like to show your support for these ideas, come along to the Punch House at l2.45pm, for a short walk or cycle down Monnow Street to a photocall on the old bridge.  There will be a special GTD farmers market waiting for you!!

Comprehensive school students will have specially organised 'cycle trains' coming into school from three directions on Thursday, which they can join in complete safety.  Their bikes will be kept secure during the day and students will be accompanied home again, by bike.

On Saturday 20th, starting at ll.00 am, there will be an organised cycle ride from the old bridge to Symonds Yat and back along the beautiful Peregrine Path.  Have lunch at the pub or bring a picnic.  (Fingers crossed it doesn`t rain!).
