After another miserable wet week the Goodrich 1sts were delighted to host Kington on a wet wicket, and beat them by 77 runs. As expected, Goodrich were asked to bat first in uncomfortable conditions. The experienced opening bowler K Gwynne kept things very tight as he picked up both of Goodrich's opening batsmen. After 15 overs Goodrich had stumbled to 12 for 2. Only when K Gwynne had finished his bowling stint of 12 overs 2 wickets for 7 runs did Goodrich manage to escape the tight noose. P Evans with 50 and A Brown with 24 pushed the scoring rate up but after 30 overs Goodrich still had only scored 51 runs. The introduction of the young bucks, James O'Brien and Steve Evans, changed things as they batted with vigour and sense. Each scored 35 runs, but with their impetus Goodrich scored 131 runs off the last 15 overs to finish on 181 for 8 wickets. After a stupendous tea the Goodrich bowlers tore into the Kington batsmen. Phil Evans removed the opening batsmen in the first over. Only D Morgan with 30 made any headway. Andy Russell, with his normal amount of turn, bamboozled the Kington batsmen, he finished on 11 overs 5 for 34. Phil Evans returned to finish off the Kington tail (12-39 -4). Kington were all out for 104.
