SIR,

I would like to thank the 274 people who voted for me last week. I am honoured and proud that so many people gave me their trust.

Unfortunately, I was defeated by six votes which is a very slim margin. However, I would like to congratulate my opponent on his success.

I know how hard it will be to deliver what he has promised the people of this town, so I wish him the best.

This was a hard fought campaign for all the candidates in Monmouth. And now that it is over I want to assure everyone that this is just the start of my interventions.

With the spare time I have I will fight hard to protect the health services and I will deliver workshops on employment and skills.

Those were the pledges I made in my campaign and they will be kept.

As a teacher and resident in our community I believe that those in public service have a duty to deliver real results.

That is why I stood, and that's what I hope the elected councillors will achieve. Good luck Alan.

Mathew Davies
