FARM-Africa is appealing for donations on behalf of Africa's farming families, to help continue their successful Dairy Goat scheme in areas under constant threat of drought and crop failure.

The idea behind the scheme is that families receive two female goats on credit. They repay the loan by giving the first kid to another poor family who will be trained on how to look after the goats and basic veterinary care.

If the rains fail, the goats will provide a family with both food and income and they no longer have to face famine.

The charity crossbreed Toggenburg or Anglo Nubian breeds with local goats, to produce a milk yield up to 12 times higher than local goats. This milk, besides being highly nutritious, can be sold at the market for grain.

FARM-Africa do not have the funds to help as many families as they would wish and are running out of goats.

Just £27 would buy a milking goat that would literally save lives.
