Monmouth Town continued their unbeaten start to 2011 with an extremely rare goalless draw against Llanwern at the Sports Ground last Saturday (5th February).

With the Kingfishers leading the goal scoring charts but having the second worst defensive record in the league, goals are usually aplenty and, in fact, this was the first time the Town had played out a stalemate since August 2006.

Monmouth started the game with the same eleven that beat Caraeu last time out with the fit again Sam Palmer taking his place on the bench.

The town kicked off with the gale force wind behind their backs and came out of the traps quickly, earning a succession of corners that came to no avail.

On six minutes the town were awarded an indirect free kick in the area after the visiting keeper had picked the ball up twice but Dean Palmer's shot was deflected away for a corner.
