Monmouth Comprehensive School debating teams swept the board at the annual Rotary ‘Youth Speaks’ evening last week.

The event is part of a programme that Rotary Monmouth run to give young people opportunities to get involved in all walks of life.

At the intermediate level, MCS students Annabel Atkinson and Carys Parker debated the subject ‘If you strike me, I will strike you back’ with chairperson Clarabel Perez introducing them.

For the Haberdashers School, Chairperson Llewi Evans invited Harry Walker and Eric Williams to debate ‘We believe modern politics does not represent the interests of young people’.

There was also two Senior teams. Judges were David Evans and Anne Foote.

Winding up, Roger Finn for the Rotary thanked the Haberdashers Schools for the use of the Hitchcock Pavilion
