A NEW festival will be held at Humble by Nature farm this summer.

Kate Humble will be opening the doors of the farm to Monmouthshire residents and visitors for the Humble by Nature Big Day Out.

The event will feature a wide range of activities, performances, demonstrations, and silly things to do for all ages.

Activities include bushcraft, den building, mucky play and plenty of opportunities to meet the animals.

Local tipples will be available from micro breweries and cider-makers too.

The evening will see a mix of live music, entertainment, songs around the campfire, food, drink and making merry – with camping and Sunday brunch available for those who simply don't want the day to end.

Hosting alongside Kate this year is Bristol-based cookery author Genevieve Taylor.

In celebration of the launch of her latest book "How to Eat Outside" Genevieve, together with a wonderful gang of talented local producers, cooks and foragers, will be cooking up a storm for festival visitors.

There will be loads of demonstrations to inspire and stalls and pop-up eateries to suit every taste.

Kate Humble said: "The Big Day Out is the perfect way to kick off the summer – celebrating the great outdoors, trying new things and enjoying our wonderful countryside to the full.

"I'm hoping the festival will inspire people for the summer and persuade them to get out there instead of clicking away on a computer screen."?
