‘The Gathering of the Greens’ this year celebrates 60 years of the 710 John Deere tractor which was the very first model that Frank Sutton sold in the local area when starting up the John Deere tractor dealership in Raglan.

The ‘Gathering’ is a group of John Deere tractor enthusiasts holding their annual social event at Parc Grace Dieu Farm, courtesy of John Deere dealer, Frank Sutton and is held on the first weekend in July and celebrates everything John Deere in true country style and has been meeting for over 15 years. It attracts Deere enthusiasts from Monmouthshire as well as enthusiasts from all over the UK and the USA.

All types of John Deere tractors, gators, and implements are welcome with a £10 entry fee. The Gathering commences at 10am on July 4th where you can participate in a 5-mile tractor ride around Frank’s farm and an opportunity to view the Sutton family’s John Deere collection.

There are competitions for John Deere tractors of all ages from the 2-cylinder engines, pre-war, to modern classes with prizes for the best exhibits. There is even a Children’s Choice award where the most popular tractor is voted for by the Young Deeres on the day.

This 710 John Deere tractor was manufactured in 1966 and has been restored by the Sutton family and will be on proud display at the Gathering of the Greens this year.

There will be country themed entertainment and competitions for the whole family to enjoy with a chance to see the farm and its wildlife including the Grace Dieu Longhorn Herd, White Park Cattle and real American Bison, all in keeping with the American origin of the tractor.
