WELSH world champion and Olympic gold medal boxer Lauren Price married her childhood sweetheart surrounded by loved ones at a county wedding venue.

Price said ‘I do’ with partner Carlie Jones at Sant Ffraed House between Raglan and Abergavenny last week in what the couple described as “the best day of our lives”.

“It is hard to put into words how amazingly perfect our day was,” the 31-year-old unified welterweight world champion said in a social media post.

“We got to share our love story with our favourite people. To my wife, I’m in awe of you. I could not be more proud to call you my wife.”

Just weeks ago, the boxer retained her title when she beat Puerto Rico’s Stephanie Pineiro on points at Cardiff’s Utilita Arena, cementing her undefeated record with a tenth straight victory since turning professional.

The Independent also named the Tokyo Olympic champion on its Pride List of most influential LGBTQ+ people in the UK over the weekend.

Venue manager at Sant Ffraed House, Greg Chester, told the BBC that it was a “knockout day” and that there was an “impromptu” first dance on the terrace at sunset.

“Lauren and Carlie’s love shone through in every moment and both brides looked absolutely beautiful. We’re so proud to have hosted such a special day for them,” he said.

Sant Ffraed in Llanvihangel Gobion opened in 2022 after a year-long £1.5m makeover by the Oldwalls Collection, who acquired the former Llansantffraed Country House Hotel for £3.5m.

Since then, the venue has hosted other celebrity weddings – with Wales rugby star Josh Navidi tying the knot with Ellé Holley there shortly after it opened, and team-mate Liam Williams and former model Sophie Harries holding their reception there in 2023 after marrying at Abergavenny’s St Mary’s Priory.
