A FUNDRAISER has been launched to help a school which was closed by the flooding.
Osbaston Church in Wales Primary right beside the River Monnow suffers flooding almost annually in its grounds, but this time Storm Claudia also hit the school buildings.
The PTFA has launched a fundraiser and posted: “Unfortunately our lovely school has been flooded, with both Lower and Upper School being affected by Storm Claudia.
“Our wonderful staff have been working tirelessly at school to ensure pupils can return as soon as possible!
“So many resources, equipment, items of furniture, outdoor classrooms and play equipment have been damaged beyond repair.
“Carpets have also had to be removed from both buildings and been disposed of.
“Osbaston Church in Wales Primary PTFA are fundraising to help support the school to ensure all pupils can return and have all the resources they need.
“Any donation, no matter how small, will help make an impact.Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me and all of our school community.
“Monmouthshire County Council Moving and Cleaning team have been incredible.
“Also building contractor Quinn, who have been working non-stop fixing what can be fixed and sorting the kitchen areas.
“A huge thank you to all the emergency services, who worked so hard over the weekend. Seeing the local community coming together in time of need has been amazing.
“Finally, huge thanks to our head teacher and all the staff, who are doing everything they can to ensure pupils can return safely and as soon as possible. It has been an emotional experience for them all.
“We know our school community will come together, support each other in this time of need and we will get through this.”
