A charity armed forces day in Mathern raised more than £1,600. The event, held at the Millers Arms, featured music by Alan Hampson and his loyal open mic contributors playing on an outside stage – a lorry donated by Peter Keates of Zenith Logistics – a bouncy castle, face painting, fancy dress and a barbecue. The headliners were the Beat Goes On, who played late into the night, getting everybody up dancing and joining in the fun. Soldiers from Care for Casualties attended to show visitors where all money raised is spent. The main fundraiser was the charity auction with some great prizes donated by Dave Merrit, St Pierre, Dewstow Golf, Peter Keates, Bath Ales and Care for Casualties. Chris Hughes did a great job by getting the supporters to dig deep into their pockets for a great cause. It was a fabulous day and Rachael, Chris and the staff of the Millers Arms would like to thank everybody for their kind generosity, support and help putting this event together, it was a team effort resulting in a great day.
