A BLIND former Mayor of Monmouth has slammed the mindless thugs who stole his glare glasses while he was collecting for charity.

Terry Christopher, a town councillor and hard-working member of a number of local community groups, was carrying a collecting bucket and his white stick when he was attacked one night at the Monmouth Festival.

I am saddened and disgusted how people could sink so low as to attack a completely blind person, said Terry, who served as the towns mayor for three consecutive years between 2006 and 2009.
