MONMOUTH Festival Committee Member Kamran Khanverdi is bringing MonFest street food and entertainment back to Agincourt Square, this Friday, 18th December from 5.00 p.m until 10.00 p.m.

Building on the success of the inaugural event in November, which also raised over £200 for next year’s Monmouth Festival, a broader selection of traders will be in town to offer an even bigger variety of food.

Over a dozen traders will display and prepare food for all palates, from vegetarians to omnivores, from sweet and savoury to smoked and spicy. There should be something for everyone.

Ranging from wood fired pizzas, pierogis, samosas and baklava, all with gluten free and vegetarian options; through to Smoked BBQ pork, beef, rib and turkey; Persian, Thai and Indian dishes as well as traditional burgers, sweet crepes, donuts and brownies; teas, coffees and mulled cider there should be something to whet every appetite.

Meanwhile underneath the arches, from 7.00 p.m until 10.00p.m, an array of local talent will entertain, hopefully in festive fashion, all those revellers out on this final Friday before Christmas.

Look out for last minute gifts at the craft stall, including locally made teddy bears.

On display will be a selection of festival memorabilia. Committee members will be on hand to take feedback on the event and also on what people of the town want from the festival.

“This event could not be put on without the support of local traders and we thank especially, The Punch House, Handyman House and The Shire Hall,” said Mark Williamson, festival director. “Remember that every stall will also donate a percentage of their takings to your festival so come out, show your support for them, for the Monmouth Festival, enjoy a cracking start to the weekend and who knows, perhaps we can make this a calendar event.”
