MADAM,
Just a few observations about the need for a new road in the Drybridge Ward because of flooding.
Firstly, the water was only out for two days and to my knowledge the only places to suffer severe damage were the cottages and the Three Horseshoes in Drybridge Street.
I didn't hear of any houses in the new housing estate or the old estate at Rockfield having water in.
As for not being able to get to town I would be interested to know how many people failed to get to work because from experience I know there are other ways and where there's a will there's a way.
Instead of spending huge amounts on a road would it not be better to spend it resolving the problems and on other needs in the town.
The flooding only happens rarely and I can't understand the fuss and I would like to point out to Cllr Witcombe no one questions his position as councillor but the measure of the job is the number of votes cast at the polling station.
