A FLOOD-hit family-owned DIY and hardware store which has served Monmouth for more than half a century says it has lost most of its stock and sustained structural damage, but is continuing to serve customers online and via home delivery.
Handyman House, just yards from the historic Monnow Bridge, posted: “To all of you across Monmouthshire we feel your pain and wish you all a speedy recovery from this tragedy.
“Like many of our fellow business owners, Handyman House has lost a majority of its stock holding and we have structural damage too – it’s fair to say we cannot trade from this store for a while.
“I know much of what we sell is what you need RIGHT NOW, so for those who need us and our products PLEASE email us:[email protected]
“Tell us what you need, include your NUMBER and our Malvern team will call you and discuss your needs.
We will DELIVER to your business or arrange collection from outside our Monmouth store.
“We will be giving DISCOUNT on these email orders on qualifying items (basically where we can – as you are probably aware we sell some items as loss leaders in order to remain competitive with the big boy sheds).
“We want to support YOU and let’s be honest we NEED YOU to support US if we are to rebuild and reopen our Monmouth store.
“Shop front or no shop front, Trudy (Wittaker) and our fantastic team are committed to provide the people of Monmouth with the service, products and friendly smile you have all enjoyed since we started trading nearly 55 years ago.
“Let’s all get back on our feet ASAP and support one another so Monmouth town can be reborn and this will just be yet another challenge we have conquered and put behind us. Handyman House.”
Trudy had earlier posted a photo of the damage inside the store, saying: “An insight into what we are up against at Handyman House.
The devastation continues throughout the store. We appreciate all the offers of help we have had, the people of Monmouth are so amazing and supportive.
“At the moment, like everyone, we are waiting for insurance assessors to come before we can begin the clear up. I’m afraid we have a long road ahead of us but will do our best to open our door again as soon as possible.”
