A FAMILY-owned town centre fish and chip shop which has operated on the high street for 46 years, say they will reopen after taking the full force of the floods, whatever it takes.

Nick Morgan of Monnow Bridge Fish & Chips, right next to the historic bridge, posted photos of the damage, saying: "Just a little sample of the total devastation the flood has caused to our business.

"Our parents started this business in 1979, it's been part of Monmouth's high street for over 45 years, and we will get back open somehow."

The situation is currently in the hands of their insurers.

One poster said: "So sorry to see this. My dad and I both love your fish and chips and hope you’re open soon."
