SIR, Well, we did it! Glorious weather, plenty of activities and a good turnout on Saturday 7 July, what more could we want for our first fete ? Well, it wasn't quite like that, after valiant efforts the Army Paintballing unit gave up the ghost on Friday afternoon and the Archery team had a car crash on the way to the fete, oh and the bouncy castle remained deflated when their generator died but apart from that it was a great success. Amazing efforts were made by the staff, students and parents who volunteered their help to make the afternoon a success (a big thank you to everyone). All the usual fete stalls (books, plants, bric a brac, uniform, toys and games, cakes, tombola, face painting and children's area) were ably supported by the school dance/gymnastic display, which drew a large audience in the middle of the afternoon, The ladies in the Refreshment Tent worked tirelessly and Neil James hog roast went down a treat. So many people to thank so here goes - South Hereford Garage, Boots, Hancocks, The Local, Konica, Fat Face, W H Smith, Costa Coffee, Thorntons, Woolworths, Salt and Pepper, Munday & Jones, The Rowan Tree, Le Gourmet, Henry's Cafe, Marks & Spencer, The Punch House, Profile, Lorraine Lingard, Gwyn Jones, Waitrose, Somerfield, Sainsburys, GSK, David S Smith Packaging and Avana Bakeries and Pedalabikeaway Cycle Centre. Full list of raffle winners will be in August Newsletter. Our thanks also go to the Editor of The Beacon for helping us to promote this inaugural fete in the newspaper, allowing us to reach an audience we could not have otherwise have kept updated. Last, but not least, a massive thank you to everyone who came to the fete, we couldn't have been such a success without you. Wendy Baker, (Monmouth Comprehensive School)
