A FUNDRAISING appeal for a Christmas meal raised £1,000.

The Christmas meal, which was attended by 68 people, was held at Wyesham Christian Fellowship and, this year for the first time, Monmouth Methodist Church.

Ian Martin raised a total of £1,000 for the meal, which was presented to Wyesham Christian Fellowship Pastor Ian Roberts last Thursday (25th January).

Using largely social media and word of mouth, Mr Martin collected money from local businesses who pledged to donate.

Mr Martin collected money from businesses including Handyman House, Monmouthshire Hearing Centre and Helmet Hers, and brought a handmade Christmas card for business owners to sign.

This was the third year he organised the appeal, raising £140 in the first year and more than £400 the second time around.
