A “little festival with big ideas” is returning for the first time in three years this May.
More than 100 musicians have been lined up for the three-stage family-friendly Devauden Festival on Friday and Saturday, May 20-21, including some of the best talent from across South Wales and beyond.
Founded in 2010, this year’s festival line-up has Caldicot folk rockers and festival veterans Rusty Shackle, who just announced a hometown castle gig on August 13, headlining Friday night.
And the “phenomenal” nine-piece Bristol-based Cut Capers are set to blow the hired Glastonbury big top tent roof off on Saturday night, mixing their four-piece brass section with funk, dance and hip-hop.
An event spokesperson said: “The main stage and second stage are situated in our Glastonbury Big Top in the Cae Ni, behind Devauden’s village hall, with stunning views over an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the Wye Valley.
“So you can enjoy the vast array of music, no matter what the weather, in a setting that is hard to beat!”
The acoustic stage is located in the main building, while real ales, cider and other drinks, plus a wide variety of food will cater for all tastes.
Camping and car parking will also be available in a nearby field
Run by the village’s Hood Memorial Hall to raise funds, the event will run from 6pm to 11pm on Friday and from 10.30am to 11pm on Saturday.
Hall chairman Kevin McElroy said: “It’s been a tough period, as we haven’t been able to run the festival for two years, but the time is now right and there’s no better place to kick off the summer festival season.
“Anyone interested in attending can expect an event built around music that also incorporates children’s entertainers, circus skills, local craft stalls, healthy food and craft beers - something for everyone.”
