MOTORBIKING Bishop of Hereford, the Rt Rev Richard Jackson, joined the Herefordshire South Atlantic Medal Association’s Ride of Respect 2026 when they visited a Wye Valley cemetery to honour a 19-year-old soldier who fell in the Falklands.

Private Timothy Richard Jenkins, 3rd Battalion, The Parachute Regiment, died on Mount Longdon on June 12, 1983, aged 19, and is remembered at Ross-on-Wye’s Tudorville Cemetery.

The Ride of Respect is a nationwide motorcycle event in the UK honouring Falklands War veterans and fallen soldiers, which took place on June 6-7.

On Sunday, June 14, at the Market House at 10am, the town together with the Ross-on-Wye Branch of the Royal British Legion will honour Private Jenkins alongside Guardsmen Gareth Griffiths and Colin Parsons of The Welsh Guards, who perished on June 8 1983 on board RFA Sir Galahad in Fitzroy, together with all other casualties of the conflict.
