SIR,

The good people who packed the Pelham Hall at Penallt to hear the Narth Choir's Christmas concert, deserve to be congratulated.

On the night of the concert (Thursday 19th December), they achieved a memorable feat in donating nearly £850, enough money to buy a complete ShelterBox as part of Monmouth Rotary Club's Philippines Appeal.

A ShelterBox provides everything that an extended family may need in the aftermath of a disaster.

In return, they were well entertained with some superb and dramatic singing from the choir. The music ranged from Wherever You Are sung originally by the Military Wives Choir, to We Wish You Merry Christmas Cha Cha Cha.

Elvis put in an appearance to sing Blue Christmas and Messrs Fletcher and Barraclough from Porridge were on hand too.

Thanks again to the choir and audience for such a memorable night and super donation. Thanks too to the Beacon for helping to promote the concert.
