The highlight of the Welsh racing calendar and the area's most prestigious meeting of the year, the Coral Welsh National, is back again this winter.

Held Tuesday 27th December at Chepstow Racecourse, the day promises thrilling racing with top trainers and jockeys competing for the glory of this year's Welsh National crown.

There wil be seven races throughout the day, the first beginning at 12.30pm and the last at 3.50pm.

With floods of crowds coming into the area for the event, organisers will be hoping for better weather than last year, where the race actually had to put off into the New Year. Met office forecasters have the days after Christmas as "unsettled" with periods of cloud and outbreaks of rain. However, weather and going are available on request from the racecourse seven days prior to the meet.

The favourite for the main race, the Coral Welsh National, is the eight-year-old winner from last year, Synchronised, whose fans will be hoping for a repeat performance. Also liked by the bookies are Giles Cross and Carruthers.
