AN ex-police officer is suing Gwent Police after a video of him arresting a pensioner was leaked and uploaded to Youtube.

A tribunal has ruled that ex-police officer Mike Baillon was constructively dismissed from the force and he is now seeking damages.

The Youtube clip depicts ex-Gwent police officer Mike Baillon in a car chase following 71-year-old Robert Whatley. Mr Baillon pursued Mr Whatley for 17 miles on Monmouthshire roads before Mr Whatley stopped. Mr Baillon left his vehicle and smashed Whatley's window 15 times before pulling him out of the car.

Despite Mr Baillon being found not-guilty of misconduct, he left his job following difficulties from colleagues.

Mr Baillon is now claiming lost earnings and pension entitlements. Although the exact figures were not announced at the hearing, Mr Baillon is expected to receive a substantial sum.

A spokesperson for Gwent police said: "As the tribunal case has not yet been fully concluded, it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time."

A decision on how much Mr Baillon will be awarded will be made next February.
