SIR, Back in January you featured a story in The Merlin told by a gentleman about his evacuee days in the 1940s. His name was Roy Alan Manchee. He is pictured as a young lad with Billy Kennard's Dance Band in a Monmouth Carnival in 1940. My dad, Billy Kennard, is pictured playing the cornet and is stood behind Roy, with his mum and dad to the left. A man called Harry Watkins is pictured in the front on the far right and Mrs Tom Davies is the lady playing the accordion on the far left. This story and the following one published a few weeks later of Roy's evacuee years was most interesting - my brother and sister enjoyed reading it and it brought back a lot of memories. The following letter is from my sister-in-law who now lives in Cwmbran. Glenys Jones (nee Kennard), Raglan
